DONORS: Together, we are reducing food waste and supporting animals in our communities.

Thank you to all our partners, volunteers, and supporters who made 2024 another successful year. In 2024, over 1000 animals across 35 farms and rescues benefited from more than 93,000 pounds of food in Loudoun and Fauquier counties.

Sugar Pine Farm Collection

Our donation season started with a bang!  Thanks to our incredible partners—Loudoun Station, Loudoun First Responders Foundation, Comstock, Team Leadership Solutions, and Edwin Hauling —we hosted a fun-filled family event that united the community for a great cause. With your support, we collected 50 pumpkins, providing nutritious treats for Sugar Pine’s happy chickens!  Every pumpkin saved means less waste and more food for animals in need. Let’s keep the momentum going!

$5000 Rundraising Goal

For the second year in a row, we’re excited to participate in the Community Foundation of Loudoun and Northern Fauquier’s Give Choose campaign on Tuesday, March 25, with early giving starting Tuesday, March 11 – that is THIS WEEK.

Your donation fuels food rescue efforts. Every dollar helps educate and mobilize 500,000+ residents in Loudoun and Northern Fauquier counties, ensuring more food reaches farms, sanctuaries, and rescues instead of landfills.

Here’s how your gift makes a difference:

  • $25 — Provides a lawn sign for a rescue or farm, making donation sites easier to find
  • $100 — Funds a Pumpkin Collection Event kit, including a lawn sign and giveaways, shipped
  • $250 — Covers the truck rental to transport rescued pumpkins to animals in need

Remembering Kathy

Last summer, we were fortunate to have Katy Reed begin sharing her vast nonprofit expertise with us. She brought kindness, generosity, and deep empathy, inspiring us to think bigger and do more. Though her time with us was brief, her impact was profound, and her spirit continues to guide us.

Why Support Us?

Pumpkins For Pigs (PFP) is a small non-profit organization established in 2017 with a mission to reduce food waste in our communities by diverting viable foodstuffs, including pumpkins, to farms, animal sanctuaries, and rescues for feed or compost.

Donation sites regularly share with us that not only do they want to be part of the food waste solution, but doing so is offsetting the increasing costs of feeding the animals nutritious foodstuffs. For example, chicken feed is 20% higher than a year ago. Financial donations pay for the programs we offer across the country and will help us support more animal sanctuaries, rescues, and farms.

Pumpkins For Pigs Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3). We're committed to doing the most we can with the resources available to us. Every dollar we receive directly supports our mission of reducing food waste, and we're constantly striving to maximize our impact. We deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work to make a difference with the resources available to us.
