Reducing Waste at Home
Food Product Dates are stamped on our food—from fresh produce to dry goods—but do any of us really know how to use them? What is the difference between a ‘use by’ date and a ‘best by’ date? Is the flavor degraded, or is there a genuine health risk from eating products past those dates? Learn how to interpret those dates to extend the life of food in your pantry and know what is okay to give away and what needs to be composted.

$10,000 Fundraising Goal
Why support us? Pumpkins For Pigs (PFP) is a small non-profit organization established in 2017 with a mission to reduce food waste in our communities by diverting viable foodstuffs, including pumpkins, to farms, animal sanctuaries, and rescues for feed or compost.
Donation sites regularly share with us that not only do they want to be part of the food waste solution, but doing so is offsetting the increasing costs of feeding the animals nutritious foodstuffs. For example, chicken feed is 20% higher than a year ago. Financial donations pay for the programs we offer across the country and will help us support more animal sanctuaries, rescues, and farms.
