HOW IT WORKS

Pumpkins For Pigs fills the gap between human-consumable food and compost by redirecting viable foodstuffs to animals. We built a growing network of donation sites – farms, animal sanctuaries, and rescues – that accept a variety of food they can feed to their animals.

Getting involved is easy!

WHAT CAN BE DONATED?

Accepted Items (aka Donations) are those foodstuffs, foliage, and non-food items that a given Donation Site would like to receive from their community. This may include dry goods that have expired in the last three months. Processed foods such as snacks are not accepted. All donations must be free of mold and decorations.

Donation Sites may accept some of all of the following items:

  • Pumpkins (carved and/or uncarved)
  • Gourds
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Brewer’s Grains
  • Bread
  • Pastries
  • Dry Goods
  • Cornstalks
  • Hay
  • Straw
  • Evergreen trees (free of decorations & dyes/sprays)
  • Evergreen wreaths (free of decorations and dyes/spray)
  • Kiddie pools
  • Outdoor plastic playhouses
