Donation Season is Underway!
Saturday, November 1, marked the start of Donation Season. November is typically the highest donation period, with the week following Thanksgiving as the last big push. Here are tips on making the most of November donations.
Update Your Listing, Please!
The most important step you can take right now is to log in to your listing and update your details — this ensures that donors know exactly what you can (and can’t) accept. We don’t want anyone showing up with items you can’t use!
Log in here: https://pumpkinsforpigs.org/my-account/
Once you’re in, please review and update the following:
- Accepted Donations — confirm what items you can receive.
- Insurance Statement — it’s just part of the world we live in, folks. You can copy and paste one of the following options:
- YES: We certify that our organization maintains general liability and property damage insurance coverage effective throughout the donation period. Our organization holds no liability to Pumpkins For Pigs Foundation for any incidents covered under this insurance policy.
- NO: We do not have insurance. We hold no liability to Pumpkins For Pigs Foundation for any incidents that occur on our property during our participation in PFP donation programs.
- Number of Acres & Animal Types — this helps us measure our collective impact and qualify for grants that keep the program free for everyone.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to update your listing. It helps us all make sure pumpkins go where they’re needed most!
If you are no longer in business and need to delist, please complete this form.
Take & Share Pictures & Videos
They say cute animals sell — and they’re not wrong!
How to help:
- Take a photo or short video of your animals enjoying their donations.
- Post it on your social channels and tag @PumpkinsForPigs (so we can share it too!).
- Or email it to us ContactUs@pumpkinsforpigs.org and we’ll highlight your site on our pages! The Weather Channel used and credited the Donation Sites we were able to highlight, which provides your organization with more exposure.
When you share photos or short videos of your animals enjoying their pumpkin (or other food) donations, it does more than just make people smile, it helps:
- Raise awareness about food waste and how simple it is to make a difference.
- Inspire others to donate their pumpkins or join our network.
- Drive more donations to your site and others in the community.
- Show the impact we’re making together — one happy animal at a time.
Together, we can spread joy, grow awareness, and keep those pumpkins doing good long after Halloween.
Drop Your Trailer
Looking for an easy way to boost pumpkin donations this season? Take your trailer on the road!
Consider setting up for a day at a farmers’ market, school, or place of worship, or anywhere your community already gathers. It’s an easy, visible way to make donating simple for everyone and to spark conversations about reducing food waste.
When you “drop your trailer,” you:
- Make it easier for people to donate their pumpkins, gourds, and more.
- Connect with new supporters (and potential buyers).
- Collect more food for animals to enjoy and offset costs.
- Raise awareness about food waste, right in your own neighborhood.
A few tips:
- Put up a sign on the trailer with your logo and ours. We can make one for you to get printed. Send requests to ContactUs@PumpkinsForPigs.org. Be sure to email us your logo!
- Take photos to share with us (and tag @PumpkinsForPigs). We’ll feature your efforts!
- Encourage donors to tell their friends.
Ready to drop your trailer? Let us know your plans, and we’ll spread the word.
New Way to Financially Support
1.2 billion pumpkins are grown in the US alone every year, and most end up in landfills, where they emit methane as they break down. We provide an alternative: give them to the animal farms and rescues in local communities as nutritious feed.
Because when we throw out food, we don’t just waste the food; we waste all the resources — water, soil, labor, and more– that went into growing and delivering that food to market. In today’s economic climate, these food sources are more critical than ever.
We run entirely on donations, and every dollar makes a difference. Your support fuels our technology, outreach, and partnerships that bring this simple idea to life.
