OUR MISSION
Pumpkins For Pigs (PFP)’s mission is to reduce food waste in our communities by diverting viable foodstuffs including pumpkins to farms, animal sanctuaries, and rescues for feed or compost.
We reduce food waste one pumpkin at a time.
WHAT WE DO
Pumpkins For Pigs fills the gap between human-consumable food and compost by redirecting viable foodstuffs to animals. We built a growing network of donation sites – farms, animal sanctuaries, and rescues – that accept a variety of food they can feed to their animals. In addition to reducing food waste, the benefits are numerous:

- Providing substance, nutrition, and enrichment to animals.
- Reducing feed and enrichment costs for Donation Sites.
- Reducing the amount of food waste that ends up in landfills, which extends useful life of the landfill.
- Preventing methane and carbon dioxide production from food waste breaking down in landfills.
- Introducing small businesses to new customers.
- Building community networks.
